Sept. 20-22: Absentee ballots mailed out.
Sept. 25: National Voter Registration Day at the Library. Both the Sandpoint and Clark Fork libraries host National Voter Registration Day events from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Get your questions answered and be a part of our democratic process and register in time for the mid-term election Nov. 6. To register, bring your Idaho driver’s license number, Idaho state identification number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number. Oct. 9-Nov. 2: In-person absentee voting.
Oct. 12: The last day to pre-register before the general election (but remember Idaho allows Election Day registration at the polling place).
Oct. 26: The last day for a request for an absentee ballot to be mailed to be accepted in the Elections Office.
Nov. 6: Last day for the Elections Office to receive voted absentee ballots (8 p.m.)

Photo ID is required to vote. To cast a vote in Idaho, voters must show picture ID at the polls before being issued a ballot. Acceptable forms of picture ID are:

  • Idaho driver’s license
  • Idaho identification card issued by the Idaho Department of Transportation
  • U.S. passport or federal photo identification card
  • Tribal photo identification card
  • Current student photo ID, issued by an Idaho high school or post-secondary education institution.

If you are not able to show an acceptable ID, you have the option of signing an affidavit, attesting to your personal identity. Once that is signed, you will be issued a ballot.
